My Aug Ad Challenge is up and ready to go over at ScrapMatters. Get inspired by my ad (yes, you gotta go over to ScrapMatters to see the ad 😉 ) and come play!
As a special bonus I’m giving away another FREE template BEFORE YOU PLAY that you can use with this challenge. It’s a more complex template so don’t feel like you have to use it to play the challenge.

My August Ad Challenge Layout
Originally I was going to take my layout in a different direction. I had planned on using one large photo clipped on top of the small cut outs but as I was putting my layout together, I decided to use a lot of photos from our trip to Paw Paw Lake back in 2010. Those photos aren’t the best quality and I thought they’d do pretty well in the small spots in this template. Eventually I’ll print the layout and see if the lower quality photos worked out or not.
I also left some spots as solid colors to help break up the photos. I’m not sure if I like that entirely or not. This layout style is out of my normal scrapping style – it uses no scrapbook supplies. I won’t know if I really like this until I see it printed. It’s definitely different.
There are a couple spots where I doubled the photo – where the photo takes up two spots. All I did was clip the photo to one layer, duplicate it and clip it the other layer – not moving the photo. Then I just highlighted both photo layers to move the photo around. I could also have merged the two template layers first and clipped the photo to the merged layer. Either way would work to get that effect.
Hope you enjoy the challenge! Can’t wait to see what you all come up with!
